Muting or removing instruments from a music file

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to mute or isolate an instrument in a music file using either Adobe Audition or Audacity?. I wanted to mute the guitars on a track so that I could play along and create a music lesson. I’ve just downloaded Adobe Audition, so the software is new to me. There are plenty of great tutorials on youtube for muting the vocals but I can’t find anything specific for muting the instruments.

Hi Jo

You can’t selectively mute an instrument in any DAW so you’ll need to get hold of the stems and make your own mixdown with only the bits you want.
