Bus Track 3dB Increase in Adobe Audition

Hey everyone, I recently left a comment on Mikes video ‘How to Setup a Bus Track’ regarding some additional gain I’m getting whenever I route my track through a bus.

Upon closer review, Mike’s video actually shows an increase in gain as well! You’ll notice that “Welcome to employment matters” is peaking around -6db before its bussed, it hits up to -3db after he busses it.

I’m determined to figure out why this is happening because it’s driving me mad!

Any thoughts?

I could find any reason for this in my initial digging. It could be something to do with pan law but I’m not sure why this would happen on a bus and not the final mix.
