I need the community’s help. I’m having difficulty setting up my Audition to edit like Mike Russell. I tried my hand at it and bombed. Any help offered is greatly appreciated.

Use the search function on his site to find Audition “How to” videos.
Before setting up a multitrack session, decide what you need and add each step one by one. There should be a logical progression to your workflow. ie: import track, set level add EQ, Add compression, add SFX, set final level, add limiter and prepare for mastering and exporting.
