Yes, there is a normalization process and hard limiter that takes the spoken word to a high level without distortion. This would be especially relevant for radio imaging where you aim for the voice to be well processed and loud enough to cut over background music and effects.
You can, of course, decrease the volume level as you see fit for mixing purposes.
