Audition 3, compression

Hoping someone can help, compressing my voice track for radio, sometimes the resulting track has some wild artifact, that if I normalize, say, at -1, the majority of the track is way soft with maybe one spike at -1.

Wondering why, with compressing, such a spike can get through. Perhaps someone can explain or help me review my settings.

Spikes usually get through a compressor if the attack isn’t set to be quick enough. Try reducing attack down to the minimum number allowed and see if that catches it. Quick attack is generally a good rule when compressing dialogue
